Ethical Urbanism

Through immersive (AR/VR) technologies and field-based learning, students experience urban change and apply the principles of sustainable urban development to our changing city. Together students are asked: How can we build a future city that is open to our different desires and needs? How do our neighbourhoods articulate with wider visions of urban sustainability and inclusion while keeping in mind the economic needs of a growing city? What does it mean to be a green city? How do we produce a more ethical urbanism? Learning Effort: 20 hours Mode of Delivery: Online Learning Outcomes: • Analyse Australian urban environments and their relationship to urban processes; • Critically evaluate debates concerning sustainable urban development; and • Demonstrate appropriate use of a range of technologies relevant to the study of cities, including relevant technology-enabled learning tools. To successfully finish the course, the participant completed the following elements: • Completion of 3 online modules • Completion of field trip questions, participate in online discussions and written reflection • Participate in sustainable city modelling exercise and submission of video
