Learning and Thriving in a Global Environment

Knowledge, skills and know-how in three essential areas are needed to ‘do’ business effectively in an international arena: one, globalisation; two, cross-cultural literacy; and three, country market analytics. This Curiosity Pod broadens students’ opportunities helping them take the first step in becoming fluent in the language of international business. Learning Effort: 30 hours Mode of Delivery: Online Learning Outcomes: Module 1 • Understand the nature of international business and the trend towards globalisation; • Analyse the effects of globalisation on business and society. • Assess the opportunities and challenges of doing business or working in the global economy. Module 2 • Understand the meaning of "culture" and the factors that contribute to cultural differences. • Analyse the economic, social and business implications of differences in culture. • Gain basic skills for effective intercultural communications and interactions. Module 3 • Know and understand basic frameworks for analysing and selecting foreign markets. • Familiarise with information requirements and data sources about foreign markets. • Assess the attractiveness of foreign markets and alternative market entry strategies. To successfully finish the course, the participant completed the following elements: • Completion of 3 online modules • Completion of knowledge check exercises for each module • Completion of one activity per module
